Join us for an afternoon exploring and tasting Japan's traditional beverage, sake. You will have the opportunity to sample a range of sake at different temperatures. After learning and tasting these beautiful sakes we will all gather in the ceramic studio to make our own sake cups using a traditional pinching method.

From sketching to stitching. Join this amazing artist, author and teacher in learning the elements of embroidery design. Through drawing exercises and a few basic stitches we will learn skills that can turn our drawings into stunning, meaningful embellishments!

Itajime & Shibori Indigo Dyeing

This textile dying workshop is led by the amazing Katalina Iturralde. She will teach several different resist approaches, histories and traditional dying methods. Katalina will guide us in creating our own beautiful shawls and tea towels.

Raku Workshop

Raku is an amazing outdoor alternative firing technique. We will all participate in the exciting and intense glazing and firing process with the guidance of our highly skilled artist and teacher, Brady Candell. More details on a day to make work/bringing your own will be announced soon.

Barn Quilt Painting

Sullivan Public is so pleased to host Kristin Texeira, our accomplished artist-in-residence, for the next session in her series, Painting Barn Quilts which are wood panels painted in the geometric patterns of traditional quilts . We will gather and spend an afternoon guided by Kristin to each make our own large scale barn quilt painting.

Textile Printing Workshop

Maegan Neubeck is an amazing textile artist and teacher, based in the Catskill mountains. Maegan will lead us in exploring multiple methods to transfer flowers onto fabric and then we will each make a beautiful large throw pillow using our new eco dying skills.

If you are looking for a low-commitment class to get acquainted with your machine (or reacquainted with the art of sewing), this is the one for you!

Mending is an essential part of maintaining your handmade or Slow-Fashion wardrobe (or even your store-bought clothes!). Patching and darning are your key techniques. Cal will teach us these mending techniques, sharing the art and utility of multiple mending methods.
