LIFE DRAWING CLASS
4 WEEKS MAY 26TH - JUNE 16TH
TUESDAYS 6-8PM
Sullivan Public is so proud to welcome local fine artist Lia Strasser to teach an exciting drawing class we have been dreaming up together for quite a while… This 4 week drawing course welcomes students of all levels of experience, focusing on the fundamentals of observational drawing, beginning with still life and progressing to the human figure. Students will work from observation to explore gesture, proportion, and form, learning to translate what they see into clear, expressive drawings. The emphasis is on simplicity, presence, and developing a personal visual language rather than perfection or detail.
Lia’s work centers on form, gesture, and emotional presence. Moving between close observation and more simplified, expressive approaches. With a foundation in classical training, she teaches drawing as a process of seeing clearly and translating that into direct, confident marks. Her approach emphasizes intuition, ease, and staying connected to the experience of making, rather than focusing on perfection. She regularly exhibits her work and has been published in The New Yorker.
Open to all levels. No prior experience necessary.
$200
A list of suggested tools and papers to buy will also be provided upon registration.
Class limited to 14 participants
