MOON JAR WORKSHOP
SUNDAY, NOV 2ND
12-3PM
Moon Jars are round spherical pots originally made in Korea during the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910). Often used for storage of food items and fermentation, the round shape balances maximum volume for storage with controlled air flow in the small opening, aiding preservation or fermentation.
In this workshop we will see some traditional examples of Moon Jars, and some modern interpretations from other cultures. Then you guessed it!, we will make our very own moon jars.
They will be gazed in the color of your choice from our selection of studio glazes and ready to pick up, or ship if you prefer, in a few weeks.
We hope you’ll join for this exciting new project with us!
Sullivan Public founder, Jessie Lazar, will be hosting the next session in her series of hand-building workshops. Jessie has been teaching ceramics for nearly 15 years at a range of NYC studios, most recently holding sold-out classes at Gasworks in Brooklyn. She loves to teach and brings new skills and techniques to each class held at Sullivan Public.
Workshop limited to 14 participants
