Intro to Hand-Building Ceramics

Ages 6–12
This season’s ceramics class will be lead by the accomplished artist and teacher Kelley. We go deeper this fall, with a focus on developing a stable of sophisticated hand building techniques by working on multi-week projects. Over the course of our semester, students will learn to create functional and sculptural pieces with coils, slabs and traditional pinching techniques and explore varied methods of surface decoration and glazing.
We will widen our understanding of clay, the firing and glazing processes, building our skills and making some really accomplished work along the way!
11 Week Session: 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, (no class 11/26), 12/3, 12/10, 12/17
